OOTD: Panda Poppare!

Heya, Little Pixies!

Recently I was browsing the web, when I came across a subculture that I haven’t heard of before: Panda Poppare.

From what I gather, the name comes from two aspects of the subcuture: The indie pop music such as Broder Daniel that is listened to, as well as the black and white outfits worn by those who call themselves Poppares.

Basically, I fell in love with the style, and decided to give it a try for myself!

This is what I came up with:

I couldn’t find my black tights, but I think the outfit turned out decently cute! What do you guys think?

365 Days of Bento: Day 1

Hey, Little Pixies!

I’ve decided to begin a new project as something to entertain both you and I, and that is the 365 Days of Bento Project, where I will be eating a bento box (what’s in it, not the plastic box!) I make for lunch every day for a year!

*cue horns and confetti*

haruhidancesing

Bento is a Japanese-style packed lunch, typically decorated either all cutesy and fun or very simple and minimalistic and full of yummy things like rice, nori, and veggies. They typically look something like this:

Or this:

Little Pixies, you may not know this about me, but when it comes to cooking and constructing crafts I’m a bit of a bumbling idiot. I thought that perhaps forcing myself to make one bento every day for a year would really help get my creative juices flowing as well as help me become more adequate in the kitchen! Plus, hey, it seems fun!

What could go wrong?!

tumblr_n2b7ne7Tzz1tvpgb2o1_500

The rules I’m setting down for myself are as follows:

  • Every day there shall be bento eaten.
  • For every day that bento cannot be eaten, one more day shall be added to the project so that the amount of bentos totals 365.
  • God bless.

I hope you all enjoy this project as much as I almost certainly will!

Bento: Day 1

I haven’t ever made a bento before, and I know very little about the process itself. I didn’t have any of the necessary equipment, so I went out to the most logical place I could think of: Five Below.

I got a cute little Cool Gear lunchbox:

And a very basic Pop Chef kit. I figure as I participate in this project longer I’ll pick up more and more accessories to make my bento lunches even cooler!

I tried to freehand a cute bento from what I had around, and this is what I ended up with:

CJu9O9VW8AAKsYC

I made a little face out of jasmine rice and nori, and used my pop chef kit on a little vegan ham to make teensy little ham circles to decorate the other half of my rice. It looks a little silly, but it certainly was delicious!

I also used my pop chef kit to make little pita shapes to go with some laughing cow cheese. I think that might have been a little too “American” for traditional bento, but it worked well for my beginner lunch!

The last couple of things I added were some sugar snap peas and brussel sprouts.

All in all, the lunch was filling and delicious, especially since it was so small! I’m excited to make tomorrow’s.

Leave me any suggestions on how to improve my boxes for the future!

Thanks for reading, Little Pixies!

Clothing Store Masterlist (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

I’ve been working on this for a while, and I wasn’t sure if other people would be interested in seeing it or not. But I thought, hey, someone might be. So here it is! I’ll add to it as I find more cool places to shop! Sorry some sections are a little bare- this is mostly based on where I personally shop so some of the sections are less applicable to me and therefore not as fleshed out. Feel free to suggest more stores to me!

All stores ship worldwide unless otherwise noted. Those marked with “US” generally include Canada and Mexico. If I have any stores marked incorrectly let me know!

Dream Outfit: Ani-may I cuddle with you?

Ani-may I cuddle with you?
Even though it’s summer now I still like to take advantage of the cooler Michigan days that have been sprouting up in order to wear a sweater and be, as my momma calls it, “weather-confused.” This look was inspired entirely by my lack of ability to dress my age and my love for candy colors. I hope you’re all having a good rainy Thursday!

Amara Organics Review: Hit or Miss?

I received Amara Organic’s Retinol Cream 2.5% for free to review honestly. I’ve been using it every day for about a week’s time, and I can already see a slight improvement in the lines in my forehead from wrinkling my face in confusion (since I’m a worrier and that’s what I do!) and I know that if I continue use the lines will drastically improve!

The cream is in a cute little bottle that is convenient for travel and easy to pump. I didn’t have to wrestle with it in order to make it pump out product during the first use, which I love since I have a habit of unscrewing pump tops and just pouring product into my hand when I can’t figure out how to open the product (which really happens waaaaay too frequently…).

The cream itself is smooth and blends easily into my skin with no filmy residue or greasiness. I can hardly feel it’s there! I put it on in the morning after I wash, moisturize, and tone my face and right before I put on my makeup primer. It has no effect on my makeup application. There’s no discernible smell either, which is a plus!

All in all I’m very satisfied with the product. Despite receiving it for free these opinions are 100% honest and my own!

UNi 100% Rosehip Seed Oil Review

1217057641b633cb8ee5bc8fa492978dd39e3e19

Note: I received this product for free to test. However, this review is 100% my own opinion.

I got this cutesy little bottle in the mail and was ecstatic to try it. When I opened the bottle and took a sniff, I have to admit I was a little put off by the scent. I have never used rosehip seed oil before, and I wasn’t so sure that I would be able to deal with the scent. Needless to say, I put some on my hair right after a shower and rubbed some on my skin and I’m actually pretty impressed! It made my hair feel so soft, which is amazing considering how often I bleach it. It also made my skin feel ridiculously smooth. The scent goes away pretty quickly, which I’m glad for. Overall, this stuff is pretty good for a moisturizer and hair oil.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Style Inspiration: Bad Day In

Bad Day In.
Since this week started off pretty poorly for me, I decided to create a pick-me-up outfit for those days a girl plans on just bumming around and nursing her mood. A comfy jammy outfit with some cute underwear is always a mood-booster, as is curling up in a cozy blanket and reading poetry by Sappho and Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights while drinking a Starbuck’s Green Tea Latte (by far the yummiest thing on the menu). Click on “continue reading” for a list of the items in this set.
