Me and the DBF (Darling Boyfriend) have been so very excited for the new Suicide Squad film. Not only does the dark urban aesthetic make us feel dangerous when we watch the trailers (in our… More
Hey Little Pixies!
I’ve been spending a lot of my time these past few days watching Once Upon a Time. I know, I know, I’m really behind on starting this show, but I’m a huge fairytale nerd and I was super worried that the show would tackle them all wrong, so I’ve been putting it off. Well, I finally bit the bullet and watched the first episode, and I love it! Consider me a fan!
Another thing I’m a fan of? Mary Margaret Blanchard’s style! I have had a huge crush on Ginnifer Goodwin since I saw He’s Just Not That Into You a while back, and she pulls off the modern Snow White vibe so well. Take a look!
I put together a MMB-inspired outfit for you all to enjoy– I think it captured the innocent and good-natured character pretty well! Let me know what you think, Little Pixies.
Today has been really bleh thanks to medication withdrawal symptoms. Kids, if you’re on zoloft, don’t skimp on doses! Out of the 10+ possible symptoms, I have– well, all of them. I’m not going to bore you (or gross you out, really) with the details, but it’s safe to say that tomorrow is looking really hopeful. I really think things are going to look up.
My roommate and I did go out to get her some pet mice, and then afterwards we went out with some friends to Applebees and had a blast! Luckily, despite everything going wonky with my mental health, things did turn around– even though I’m super exhausted now!
I based this outfit on this super adorable dress I came across on my Pinterest feed. I was going for a sort of classy horror vibe, something Taming of the Shrew– era ghostly schoolgirl-like. What do you guys think?
Hey there, Little Pixies ~
As you may or may not have noticed, content on this blog hasn’t been coming as frequently as it usually does this past week or so. I’m really sorry for that, and I want to be perfectly honest with you guys since you take time out of your day to visit this blog, which I appreciate so, so much. I’ve been putting this post off for a while now since I hate to disappoint you guys, especially given my flakey history with this blog. However, I think that getting this out into the open will clear the air a bit and really help me as far as keeping up with Pixies and Glitter. Tldr; this is scary to write, but I think it will lead to a more frequently updated blog with much higher quality content.
I have diagnosed depression and anxiety disorder which I have been taking medication for since about this time last year, and lately due to financial troubles as well as being busy getting ready to move to a new apartment this coming week I haven’t been able to get a refill on my medication for about a month. I’ve been trying so hard to stay positive and to keep up with this blog since I really do love taking time to make updates for you guys to enjoy, but current mental health just isn’t allowing me to do some things right now, even though I really do want to come through for you all.
So, here’s the deal: just for right now I have to put some of my ongoing projects like 365 Days of Bento on hold for a while, since I can’t honor the commitment of cranking out blog posts on a schedule at this time. That would be the bad news.
The good news, however, is that despite putting 365 on hold I have a few ideas for future blog posts that are standalone and therefore seem far less daunting to me right now. Right now I feel as though putting project commitments on hold will help dissolve a bit of my anxiety and allow me to make cooler posts, including ones like this where I get real with you guys. I’m looking forward to the direction that I hope this blog will go, and I really hope you are all there with me.
Thanks for being here for me, Pixie Family. I really appreciate all of the kind comments and encouraging words you leave on my posts, it really makes running this blog worth it.
Take care of yourselves! I should have something up in the next couple of days for you to enjoy.
Hello, Little Pixies!
Today I would like to show you a website that I’ve known about for a while called Shein, formerly known as Sheinside! They are a wholesale website specializing in really adorable fashions that fit just about every style, whether you like to look classy, grungey, fairy kei, or anything in between! Best of all, their prices are simply stunning and affordable, which is something I always look for in a clothing store!
Their website is well constructed and features reviews and photos from other consumers for many of the items, making me much more comfortable shopping there than other Asian wholesalers.
I put together an outfit from only a fraction of the cute things I’ve found on Shein, as well as a collage of a few more items I really liked! I hope you enjoy and decide to visit the website and take a look for yourself.
I hope that you like what I’ve put together, Little Pixies! Check out the website and let me know what other treasures you find!
Today I was planning on kicking back and starting up Knights of Sidonia, but my roommate had other plans! She was bored sitting around at home, so I agreed to go with her to Goodwill and perhaps pick up a few pairs of shorts since my weightloss has been kicking into high gear lately (good for my waist, bad for my pockets!).
When we got there I immediately found an armful of clothing and made my way to the changing rooms, but none of it really impressed me so I wandered out onto the sales floor once more in order to find Courtney. I located her near the porcelain dolls, and as anyone who knows me could tell you, I couldn’t leave without at least one.
I left with two.
The first one I found immediately caught my eye because she looks fairly old, like something my mom would have had as a child (sorry, momma, but you’re up there!). She doesn’t have real rooted hair. Instead, her hair is painted on.
She reminds me a lot of Nanako from Oniisama e, my current favorite anime. I really don’t know why, but I’m thinking it’s the face or the hair.
I also love her cute little bloomers and feet, even if her dress is pretty plain.
I’m thinking of sewing something special for her, probably something really Nanako-like.
The next doll I got because her face was so charming!
Her cheeks are puffy and cute, and her dress is hands down the best outfit any of my dolls have. I just adore her apron!
After finding the porcelain dolls I saw a couple of items in the decorative aisle. The first thing that caught my eye was this little unicorn. It was only about 50 cents, so I nabbed it!
The second thing was this sake set.
Lastly I always take a look at the tub that holds all of the Barbies in case I run across some treasures, and this time I did!
It’s a Gargoyle boy from the older Create-a-Monster kit from Monster High! He was missing his wings, but he had all of his hands and legs, which is amazing! He also came in his original outfit minus the shoes and wig. I think he’s pretty handsome, even though I want to get him changed and make him a beanie for his head. Right now he’s borrowing Neighthan’s hat which doesn’t actually fit too flattering.
I need to think of a name for him because I’m a dweeb like that. I think I’m going to get him a wig when I have some extra money! My research tells me that pukifee wigs fit Monster High dolls decently. We’ll see!
So that was my little haul. Thanks for reading!
Today for my second day of bento lunches I made a rice and nori patty, cabbage spring rolls, cute little cheese sammies, green peppers and laughing cow swiss cheese, some bunny-ear apples, and a bit of a cereal bar! I had a lot of fun with the spring rolls even though it took me a bit to figure out how to wrap them! I can’t wait to make more complex ones next time!
Have a great day, pixies! Enjoy the sun!
